Starting on December 28, passengers can book tickets, online or by phone, for trains running according to the new train operating diagram (including high-speed trains). The new train operating diagram began implementation nationwide on December 28.

With the implementation of the new diagram, Guangzhou South Railway Station now has direct high-speed trains to Jinan and Qingdao. The number of services on the high-speed railways between Guangzhou and Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong has also been increased, and regular train services have been adjusted as well.

The direct high-speed trains between Guangzhou and Qingdao and Jinan significantly shorten the distance between the Pearl River Delta and Shandong, a demographic center in northern China. The G276/7 and G278/5 trains from South Guangzhou to Qingdao will take just 12 hours and 38 minutes, 16 hours less than regular trains. The G279/80 trains from South Guangzhou to West Jinan takes only 10 hours and 27 minutes, 11 hours less than regular trains.
