International Home Port for Cruisers Planned

Officials held a conference on June 19 to discuss the feasibility of the proposed Nansha International Cruiser Wharf Complex Project. According to the released master plan, the project will comprise a home port for cruisers, a terminal building, a seaside hotel, a duty-free emporium, tourism and entertainment facilities, and luxury residences.
The project will be located in the eastern part of Nansha New District, downstream from Humen Bridge, bordering Nansha Yacht Club to the north and Nansha Passenger Port and Nansha Hotel to the south. It has a usable shoreline of 1,400 meters (including the completed shoreline for Nansha Passenger Port). The cruiser wharf project has a shoreline of 750 meters and will include one berth for cruisers with a gross tonnage (GT) of 100,000 tons and one for cruisers with a GT of 225,000 tons. The project is designed to handle 750,000 passengers a year.
The cruiser home port will include a superb shopping establishment and offer a wide range of leisure and entertainment products. A botanical garden featuring tropical plants will be built at the heart of the project. A 180-square-meter artificial beach will be built on the top of the car park building to create a "beach in the air". Many other public facilities, including an edgeless swimming pool will also be built. |
