The results of Guangzhou's economic performance in the first half of the year have been announced. In the first half of the year, Guangzhou's GDP increased by 8.3% year-on-year to RMB 766.618 billion, according to data released by the city's Statistics Bureau on July 30. The city's economy remained stable and continued growing in the first half of the year, with a larger improvement in the second quarter than in the first quarter.

Due to economic restructuring, the growth rate of fixed-asset investment moderated the year compared with last year. In the first half of the year, however, the construction of key projects progressed steadily, and fixed-asset investment reached RMB 174.205 billion, up 12.6% year-on-year, 1.9 percentage points faster than in the first quarter.

● Real estate investment totaled RMB 78.73 billion, up 22.7% year-on-year;
● infrastructure investment totaled RMB 44.631 billion, up 13.1% year-on-year;
● The share of the tertiary industry up 0.9% year-on-year;
● Over 170,000 jobs added in the first half; 
● Financial revenue of totaled nearly RMB 60 billion, up 9.6% year-on-year, with tax revenue accounting for 80% of the total;
● CPI rose 2.4% year-on-year, down 0.2 percentage points compared with the second half of last year;
● Investment in cultural media jumped 51.3%.
