New highlights of development of Guangzhou
By virtue of robots and big data, the efficiency of customized furniture production has been improved by 10 times! The Industry and Information Technology Commission of Guangzhou Municipality said that, as a national central city, Guangzhou is making great efforts to develop new business types and concentrate driving forces for economic growth, including upgrading smart manufacturing and guiding enterprises to continuously make innovation of production and operation forms and business modes so as to accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading.
Upgrading of “smart manufacturing”: “Internet plus” to improve productivity by 10 times
Robots and “Internet plus” are promoting the transformation to “smartly manufactured in Guangzhou”. The factories of GAC, Homekoo and Guangzhou Radio Group have all improved their productivity relying on various robots, which can be applied in a flexible way. Through big data management and application of robots, the daily productivity of Homekoo has been improved by 10 times. In addition, zero inventory has been realized, while the delivery cycle has been shortened from 30 days to about 15 days. Incomplete statistics indicated that, the output value of RMB1 billion of smart systems is able to drive the generation of output value of RMB5 billion of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
Smart technologies for Industry 4.0 and Internet interaction have been fully applied by Homekoo. Smart technologies are applied in all processes, from order placing by customers to order receiving by the enterprise, from purchase of raw materials to organization and manufacturing by factories, and from delivery to customers to the use of products and all the after-sales services. By applying Cloud computing and big data “Internet”, Homekoo has become a pioneer in China in the field of e-business related to household products. It has won a number of honors, such as “Global Top 10 Network-based Business Operators”, and “China’s Demonstration Enterprise for Piloting Smart Manufacturing in 2016” granted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China.
Industrial upgrading: vigorous growth of 3D printing, new energy vehicles and other industries
In terms of smart manufacturing, the leading role of leading projects is especially important. Guangzhou is accelerating the construction of a number of key projects, including the China National Intelligent Equipment Research Institute and the National Robots Testing and Assessment Center. The annual output value of the industrial robots and smart equipment industries of Guangzhou has reached RMB40 billion. The smart products have been applied in more than 10 fields, including auto parts manufacturing, elevator manufacturing and pharmacy. Two enterprises based in Guangzhou, namely GSK CNC Equipment Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Start To Sail Industrial Robot Co. Ltd, have ranked among “Chinese Top 10 Enterprises in Robots”.
3D printing is a hot trend. Guangzhou 3D Printing Industrial Park has become a place for concentration of domestically leading 3D printing enterprises. So far, there have been about 20 such enterprises, including Wangneng, Jiehe and NewStarWay. The industrial park aims to promote in-depth cooperation between Wenbo and other 3D printing enterprises and the industries such as medical treatment and education.
In terms of new energy vehicles, since 2013, when Guangzhou was selected as one of the pilot cities for new energy vehicles, it has been able to overfulfill the tasks for promotion of new energy vehicles every year. From January to September, 2016, the new energy vehicles of Guangzhou increased by about 1.8 times.
In terms of new materials, Guangzhou has accelerated the construction of industrial parks for new business types, such as the South China New Materials Science and Technology Park and the Conghua New Materials Industry Base. It aims to cultivate two new material enterprises with output value of more than RMB10 billion and 25 enterprises with output value of more than RMB1 billion. Kingfa Science and Technology, which is a leading enterprise in this field, is China’s biggest manufacturer of modified plastics, having proprietary intellectual property rights over a variety of products marketed in more than 130 countries and regions in the world.
Strategic Plan for Made in Guangzhou 2025
Guangzhou will focus on ten key fields, including smart equipment and robots, energy saving and new energy vehicles, and new-generation information technology. Special plans for advanced manufacturing, informatization, auto industry and Pazhou Internet Innovation Cluster, will be carried out to make layout for the development during the 13th Five-Year Plan period in an all-around way.
Opinions on Accelerating Innovative Development of Advanced Manufacturing
Guangzhou strives to see that: in 2020, the output value of all the innovative enterprises in the city will reach RMB1.8 trillion; 50% of industrial enterprises above designated size will have research and development organizations; there will be more than 10,000 new innovative main market players; there will be one or two national manufacturing innovation centers. It aims to develop into an “engine” and “dragon head” for an innovation-driven development in the Pearl River Delta.
Support for 142 new business type projects
Guangzhou has established special fund to support the development of new business types. Since 2014, special fund of RMB113 million has been allocated to support 142 related projects. The demonstration and driving effects of financial fund are shown by a ratio of 1:83. The driving role of innovation has been highlighted to encourage enterprises to make innovation of their production and operation forms and business modes.
Great efforts to build “smart city”
Guangzhou is making great efforts to promote the construction of “smart city”, and a great number of new business types related to information technologies have emerged. The ability to provide services for Cloud computing of big data is the foundation for the development of new business types related to information technology. Under the promotion of the government of Guangzhou, the “Guangzhou Datahub”, which is the first data exchange service platform in South China, was formally put into operation this June. In addition, a number of Cloud computing and big data centers, including the National Supercomputer Centre in Guangzhou, the Asia Pacific Information Engine and Shaxi Cloud Computing Center of China Telecom, have been established, and a number of enterprises engaged in new business types, including Jiesai Tech and Etrans, have been cultivated. The strong hardware foundation has enabled Guangzhou to attract a lot of Internet businesses to seek for a cluster-based development.
Coverage of e-business in manufacturing industry maintained above 70%
Guangzhou is trying to promote the transformation from “production-oriented manufacturing” to “service-oriented manufacturing” by speeding up the development of new business types of the producer service industry. Many traditional manufacturers have launched e-business. The coverage of e-business in the manufacturing industry of Guangzhou has been maintained above 70%. Guangzhou aims to promote continuous improvement of the service functions of a number of industrial parks for new business types, such as the Huangpu Zhuangyuan Valley E-Business Base and the Giant Design and Creative Industrial Park, through a series of transformation, upgrading, cultivation and construction projects. Relevant statistics indicated that, about 80% of A-class logistics enterprises and manufacturers in Guangzhou have established linkages to different extent.
Carbon trading accounts for 94.8% of national total
The energy saving and environmental protection industries also have a fast development. So far, Guangzhou has formed up a number of industrial clusters, including the Energy Saving and New Energy (Baiyun) Industry Base and the Panyu Energy Saving Science and Technology Park. The service system for “carbon finance” is being improved. China Emissions Exchange is taking market-oriented measures to promote eco-compensation and launch operations related to carbon finance. The accumulated volume of transactions in the primary market reached RMB783 million, accounting for 94.8% of the total in the national market.
“Strengthening, improving and establishing industry chains”
Responsible person from the Industry and Information Technology Commission of Guangzhou Municipality gave an introduction to the three actions of Guangzhou for “strengthening, improving and establishing industry chains”. The Three-Year Action Plan of Guangzhou for Accelerating Development of New Business Types and the Several Measures for Promoting the Development of New Business Types of the Service Industry of Guangzhou should be based to take “Strengthening Industry Chains” action for new business types with well-developed leading enterprises, good industrial foundations great radiation ability, and take “Improving Industry Chains” action for new business types at both ends of the “Smiling Curve” with competitiveness and radiation ability in need of further improvement, and take “Establishing Industry Chains” action for new business types in initial development stage and with comparative advantages.
