Total Volume of Retail Sales to Be Over 1 Trillion RMB in 2020

On November 23, the Guangzhou Economic and Trade Commission issued Opinions on the Implementation Of Reform and Development Plan in the Pearl River Delta and Accelerating the Construction of Modern Industrial System of Business (hereinafter referred to as the Opinions).
According to the Opinions, Guangzhou will make efforts to construct internationally competitive and advanced manufacturing bases by adjusting and upgrading manufacturing industry and build international trade and exhibition centers by optimizing business circulation. By 2020, the industrial added value will reach 800 billion RMB and the total volume of retail sales over 1 trillion RMB. In addition, twenty internationally recognized industrial clusters and business circles which meet the criteria of Guangzhou as a state central city and 50 internationally competitive leading enterprises with annual income exceeding ten billion RMB, will be created.
By 2020, outputs of advanced manufacturing and high-tech industries will be improved to about 60 percent and 42 percent respectively of the industrial output of the city; business added value about 25 percent of the output of the tertiary industry; contribution of non-state-operated enterprises 42 percent of GDP of Guangzhou; expenditure for R&D in large and medium enterprises more than two percent of their annual income; sales of chain businesses 70 percent of the sales of social consumer goods; Internet shopping rate 70 percent; rate of consuming by bankcard about 60 percent; output of land per unit more than 6 billion RMB. And energy consumption of industrial added value of per enterprise above Designated Size will be reduced to below 0.8 tons of standard coal percent ten thousand RMB.
According to the Opinions, six internationally competitive and advanced manufacturing bases and six industrial bases including world-class automobile base will be built in Guangzhou for the purposes of improving the share of automobiles with own brands in the market of medium and high grade cars to two percent, yielding about three million automobiles annually and building world-leading automobile manufacturing bases in terms of scale and level.
By 2015, 50 major catering industries (groups) with annual turnover of more than 100 million RMB and 10 regionally recognized chain catering brands, 100 state-level restaurants, two to three listed catering enterprises will be fostered, creating 30,000 new jobs. |
